This is a list of cards with either the Conexant CX23415 (iCompression iTVC15) or Conexant CX23416 (iCompression iTVC16) chips on them along with their current expected behavior when used with the ivtv Linux Driver.

Known working

  • Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150
  • Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150MCE
  • Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150MCE Low-profile
  • Hauppauge WinTV PVR-500MCE
  • Hauppauge PVR250
    • Rev1: Models 48xxx, S-Video connector only, comes with composite adapter
    • Rev2: Models 48xxx, separate S-Video and Composite inputs
    • Rev3: Models 32xxx, should have Conexant CX23416
    • Rev?: Model 980, should have Conexant CX23416 (the box says "SL-980-V1.5-US")
  • Hauppauge PVR250MCE - (non blackbird design)
  • Hauppauge PVR350 - Pin out for 9 pin mini-DIN
    • Rev1: Model 980
    • Rev2: Model 990, works in ivtv-0.2.x or greater
  • Yuan MPG600/MPG160
    • Be sure that you don't have a PG600-2, as it has an unsupported tuner. If your card is missing the silver tuner box that most cards have, it will not work with Linux at this time.
    • This card is also branded as a Diamond PVR-550.
      • NOTE: Revision 2 of this card contains a tuner that is known not to work out of the box. A fix is being worked on.
  • Kuroutoshikou CX23416GYC-STVLP
    • Note: worked for me with the HcwFalcn.rom file (364 Kb) as supplied in the MCE driver from Hauppauge. You can split that file to be 262144 bytes instead of 376836 bytes.
    • Note: does not work with version 0.8 (2.6.18) only 0.7.1 and older.
  • Avermedia M179
  • Hauppauge Freestyle: This card acts more like a 250, but is actually closer to a 350. It has a decoder chip onboard, in addition to the memory chips that the 350 has. The major difference is that the Freestyle doesn't have the TV out port, nor does it have an IR plug. Instead, these are replaced with a Composite A/V input.
    • Rev1: Models 48xxx, has no IR port
    • Rev2: Models 32xxx, has no IR port, should have Conexant CX23416
  • Adaptec VideOh! DVD Media Center PCI Edition (Model AVC-2410) NOT USB VERSION - some non-standard configuration is required please refer to Card Specific Settings
  • Adaptec AVC-2010
  • AOpen VA2000MAX-STN6
  • YUAN MPG600GR/Kuroutoshikou CX23416GYC-STVLP
  • I/O Data GV-MVP/RX
  • I/O Data GV-MVP/RX2E
  • Yuan MPC622
  • Digital Cowboy DCT-MTVP1
  • Yuan PG600V2/GotView PCI DVD Lite (no tuner support yet)
  • Club3D ZAP-TV1x01
  • AverTV MCE 116 Plus
  • ASUS Falcon2
  • AverMedia PVR-150 Plus
  • AverMedia EZMaker PCI Deluxe
  • Buffalo PC-MV5L/PCI

Known to NOT work

  • Hauppauge PVR PCI (first version) (there is a driver here)
  • Adaptec VideOh! DVD Media Center USB 2.0 Edition (driver details posted in ivtv-user posting)
  • Hauppauge WinTV PVR usb (there is a driver here)
  • Hauppauge WinTV PVR usb2 (there is a v4l driver here)
  • Hauppauge WinTV HVR1500/1600 (CX23418 based) (there is a beta cx23418 driver here)
    • Hauppauge has been shipping the HVR1600 as a PVR-150. The box will be the normal PVR-150 but inside will be a letter stating that it was substituted for a HVR1600. Hauppauge will allow you to return it, and they will guarantee it will be with an actual PVR-150.
  • AverMedia M104 (This uses the XCEIVE XC2028 tuner. Exprimental support is in v4l-dvb)
  • Conexant Blackbird Design (there is a driver here; this driver is being integrated into the cx88 driver) (CX23416 MPEG1/2 Encoder combined with the CX23880 Audio/Video Digitizer). See the v4l wiki for more details. Due to a drastically different design, based around the CX88 driver, ivtv will never work with this platform. Parts of ivtv could be used in a new driver (best incorporated into the cx88 tree), but we're a long way from that point. A list of known cards that follow this reference design:
    • Hauppauge Rev 28xxx (has no IR port), code name: Roslyn. Sometimes (to maximize confusion?) called a 'PVR250MCE'. This [1] is what the Roslyn card looks like. Note the cx23880 close to the PCI socket and the cx23416 and its sdram 'behind' it.
    • AverMedia M150 From the myHTPC website: same MPEG2 encoder as the Hauppuage PVR-250 paired with a CX23880 for the TV receiving chip. This is known as the "Blackbird" reference design. Note: this is a newer and much better card than the M179 which had many quality issues and is now being phased-out. This site has detailed pictures of the card's chips, etc. Note there are two versions of this card.
    • Provideo Multimedia PV258
    • Provideo Multimedia PV259
    • ASUS PVR-416
    • Leadtek WinFast PVR2000 Uses PHILIPS MK3 Tuner, Conexant CX23416 MPEG-2 encoder, Crystal CS5333-KZ stereo A/D converter, size: 17.5 cm x 10.6 cm, has FM
    • The Avermedia UltraTV 1500MCE and UltraTV Media Center PCI 550 also appear to follow the blackbird reference design.
