I suspect the reason you are getting different results is due to the
fact that you are using 0.10.6 ivtv driver on centos. I'm using a later
version of the driver on 2.6.25.14-108.fc9.x86_64 x86_64
ivtv0: Version: 1.2.0 Card: Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350
