AFAIK, lirc_i2c is a module that only handles IR receive.  Since it does
support the PVR-150, it's no stretch to expect it to support the
HVR-1600 as well.

I had never actually tested lirc_i2c with the HVR-1600 IR receiver, so
it's good to hear Steve's report that it works.

Since lirc_i2c and lirc_pvr150 are mutually exclusive, AFAICT for a
claimed device, and since the subject line specifically queried about
the IR Blaster, I answered in the lirc_pvr150 vein.
