Hi Andy,

I finally got to test my HVR-1600 under WinXP using Hauppauge's WinTV 
application in my old computer. As you suspected, the audio was static 
free. I can also confirm that the static occurs on a 32 bit kernel with 
the drivers as of April 14 on the same computer, and if I boot back into 
WinXP, the audio is fine. I'm relieved because that seems to rule out 
hardware as a root cause. IOW it's unlikely my HVR-1600 or my new 
computer with the ASUS M3N78 PRO mobo are at fault.

My next step will be to test the card in the new computer with the 
cx18-init-debug repo, probably early next week.
