[ivtv-users] Upgrade Ubuntu Hardy kernel ruined ivtv, upgrading to Ubuntu Intrepid doesn't help.

Ubuntu provides firmware in the package linux-firmware,
 but here's the real brainscratcher, I could have sworn I already used 
untarred the ivtv-firmware from ivtvdriver.org, as I had already 
downloaded it.
So, having a working system now, I decided to tinker a little.
I installed the kernel-package I compiled myself from the git tree of 
30-12-2008 (as I mentioned before) 2.6.28-GIT
I cold-booted into this kernel, ivtv-tune -f 768 mplayer /dev/video0 = 
shite !
WTF ? I untarred the same ivtv-firmware *again* in /lib/firmware , rmmod 
ivtv && modprobe ivtv, ivtune -f 768, mplayer /dev/video0 = perfect !
Now how's that for an enigma, I doublechecked, the linux-image package I 
installed does not have firmware packaged into it.

I must admit I found a fault in my mythtv setup, it was set to PAL-60 
instead of pal-BG,
So I will try now to reproduce above described behavior by reinstalling 
linux-firmware and linux-image-2.6.27-9-generic
If this works I am a total putz for missing the PAL-60 setup fault.

I'll keep you guys posted.
